U.S. housing starts dropped 5% in August compared to July to a seasonally adjusted rate of 571,000 units, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. The largest decline was in the multi-family housing side, down 13.5% compared to a decline of 1.4% in single family home construction.

"Economist Alistair Bentley of TD Economics said there is no indication that Hurricane Irene played a part in the results."
- Yeah right...
People have been afraid of these superstorms, hurricanes and what ever not these past years and all they did is to invest in real estate somewhere else. I've read on commercial observer that almost everyone who lost their homes and other real estates waited for a donation to happen. Isn't this sad?
