I’m hearing that if Toronto softens prices this year that Hamilton’s cost advantage over Canada’s largest city will erode? What do you think? Is the market being undervalued and underestimated as a good investment opportunity?

I don't think there is a drastic economical disaster about to happen that will affect prices in Toronto so drastically to erode, or even slightly affect, what is going on in the Hamilton market at all.
Hamilton is just coming into its own. It was rundown for a few years because of the slowdown at the steel plants and prices have been low for a long time. The city is cleaning itself up and expat Torontonians have just begun to take advantage of the cheaper house prices. The prices have begun to rise but they are still nowhere as high as they could/should be considering what you get for your money.
