My spouse and I wish to re-mortgage but have been told that a repayment mortgage must be repaid before the age of 65. As my partner is 51 this means we can only hold a mortgage over 14 years. This seems unfair as I am 12 years younger and the mortgage will be in joint names. Is this a common rule to all company? I have found a good mortgage company The Financial Forum, Canada. Before choosing them, I need to know every details regarding this. We are both employed full time and possess a joint income of more than 50% of what we wish to borrow. Is this rule set in rock?
