The previous record of 350 for the month was smashed while year-to-date sales increased 18 per cent to 2,087 putting 2016 on course to be the area’s best year for sales ever.
The 360 members of the Realtors Association of Grey Bruce Owen Sound were under pressure from a sharp decrease in active listings which were down 40.2 per cent year-over-year; new listings were down 17.5 per cent from August 2015.
Average prices of homes sold also reached new records with a 9.4 per cent rise from August 2015 to $266,804.
