Canadian housing giant seeks new opportunities to the south

Canada’s largest home builder Mattamy is looking to expand south of the border.

The firm already has housing developments in Arizona and Florida but wants to more than double the number of homes it builds in the U.S. Currently, just 25 per cent of Mattamy’s sales are outside Canada.

The Globe and Mail reports that the Canadian builder started buying land south of the border ten years ago, but then the market crashed. However, it has been increasing land purchasing in the last year and now intends to benefit from the growing housing market in American markets.
