The broadcaster’s real estate director Marc Lapierre says there is no formal plan for a mass exit from property ownership to raise funds and cut costs. However, he said that it may be better to lease buildings rather than own them.
The Canadian Media Guild said in a release this week that CBC was planning the sell-off, but the broadcaster has responded by reiterating a plan from last year that would divest half of its property portfolio.
