In Calgary, community strategist David White says adding a playground to a neighbourhood helps create a sense of community and home builders can see the benefits.
“From a developers’ point of view, it is good value for the money," he told the Calgary Herald. "In the hierarchy of new community amenities, playgrounds are more important than big parks, pathways or bike lanes and especially golf courses.
"They are even important near seniors’ complexes where grandparents are eager to take grandchildren outside to play.”
