Homeowners warned to check their insurance if renting to FIFA fans

As the FIFA Women’s World Cup gets underway later this week the Insurance Bureau of Canada is warning homeowners that are renting out their properties to fans to check their insurance policies.

The IBC says that, while most coverage allows for friends and family to use your home from time to time, renting it out is often excluded.

With matches taking place in Vancouver, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Ottawa, Montreal and Moncton, many householders may be tempted to make a few extra dollars by renting to fans, but it may also be prohibited in mortgage terms and conditions.
