Real estate boards report strong sales activity

Some of Canada’s largest real estate boards and associations have reported strong activity in home sales as the summer buying season gathers pace.

The highlights include:
  • Greater Toronto Real Estate Board: July sales at a record 9,880, up eight per cent from a year earlier. Condos up 14.4 per cent across the GTA. Average selling price up 10.6 per cent year over year to $609,236.
  • Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver: July sales 3,978, up 30 per cent from a year earlier. Benchmark price $700,500, up 11.2 per cent year over year.
  • Kitchener-Waterloo Association of Realtors: July sales 570, up 1.1 per cent from a year earlier. Average sale price $344,523, up 2.1 per cent year over year.
  • Ottawa Real Estate Board: July sales 1,436, down 0.3 per cent from a year earlier. Average sale price for condo-category homes $255,102, down 2.6 per cent year over year. Average sales price for other property types $394,889, up 4.5 per cent year over year.
  • Windsor-Essex County Association of Realtors: July sales 628, up 4.15 per cent from a year earlier. Average selling price $206,201, up 3.81 per cent.
  • Saskatoon Region Association of Realtors: July sales 444. Average selling price $357,304.
