Realtor killed during home break-in

A realtor from British Columbia has been shot dead during a break-in at his Surrey home.

Colin Hill, who was 42, died protecting his family as a man tried to break into the home in Cloverdale just before midnight Sunday. The father of two had been a realtor for nine years.

Speaking to The Province, Jorda Maisley, president of the Fraser Valley Real Estate Board, said: “This is quite a loss for us all. It’s so tragic and it’s senseless. I just think of his family and what they must be going through.”

Hill worked alongside his wife Becky Zhou in a realty office in Sutton and neighbours paid tribute to the “very nice guy.”

Surrey Mounties have arrested a 22-year-old suspect.
