The newspaper said the Antigonish diocese has so far sold 10 properties for a total of about $2 million. More properties will be forthcoming, as that particular diocese owes $18.5 million for past court settlements, and potentially $3 million more.
The article quoted the diocese as predicting it could eventually sell some 200 to 300 properties for a total of $10 million to $12 million.
The Yarmouth Diocese and a part of the Cornerbrook-Labrador City Diocese will also be selling properties.
