The Housing Capital initiatives program will cost $188 million and include 27 projects in 13 communities. It partners municipalities, non-profit groups and the private sector.
The Edmonton Journal over the weekend revealed it learned the â€œvast majorityâ€ of that cityâ€™s eight subsidized housing projects would be built outside the inner-city neighborhoods. The paper said there had been prior concern by residents in the inner-city that their neighborhoods were â€œturning into ghettosâ€ due to high concentrations of homeless and low-income residents.
