New website launched for landlords

A new website has been launched where landlords can learn about the laws that apply around rental properties in Alberta.

The Laws for Landlords and Tenants in Alberta website was redesigned by the Centre for Public Legal Education Alberta, reflecting feedback from landlords and tenants across the province.

It features a new design, and breaks the issues down into: legislation, leases, security deposits, inspection reports, responsibilities, roommates and subletting, repairs, notices and disputes.

Due to the impact of the decline in oil prices and job losses on tenants in Alberta, the new website also includes a tip sheet for those who have lost their job due to the downturn, information that is also useful to landlords.
