Leslie Quinsay, investor and president of the Advanced Measurement and Analysis Group, and the 2014 winner of CREW’s Top Investor Awards
, added: “Stay focused on the ‘why’ behind what you are doing.
“It's easy to get caught up in things and feel like you need to keep up with other investors. But, what's most important is that you are applying real estate investment strategies that are moving you towards your own goals and dreams. So, don't get caught up in the hype.”
Quinsay has several years of experience in real estate, and has a diverse portfolio that includes single-family, multi-family and commercial properties.
There are a range of elements she credits for her win as the top investor at the 2014 Investor Awards. “I invest in areas with strong economic fundamentals,” she says. “I also have strong, reputable support teams in the areas I invest, which helps me continue my growth and manage my portfolio.”
Quinsay stresses the importance of building these support teams. “Surround yourself with experienced, reputable investors who are above and beyond where you are,” she adds. “You will experience amazing growth just by listening to those who are already where you are aspiring to be.
“Dig deep when researching areas to invest. Invest in areas with strong, economic fundamentals and which are poised for future growth, and take the time to study and learn about not only the region, but the specific city or town and neighbourhood in which you plan to invest.”
Quinsay also advises other investors to share their own growth and experiences, calling it an excellent way to inspire others to move forward with their real estate investing goals. “It’s a great way to give to the real estate investment community,” she continues.
“It's important to take the time to recognize your (or your associates) accomplishments and be proud of the growth you've experienced over time. It's also fulfilling to know that what you are doing is recognized and makes a difference in the lives of others.”
