Vancouver, Toronto and Calgary are among the most liveable cities in the world and are less than a point from the top spot.
The Economist Intelligence Unit’s league table follows an assessment of factors such as crime, healthcare, culture & environment, education availability and infrastructure in 140 cities.
Melbourne, Australia ranks the highest at 97.5 out of 100 followed by Vienna in Austria at 97.4. Vancouver (97.3), Toronto (97.2) and Calgary (96.6) complete the top 5 and are the only cities in The Americas to make the top 10.
The list does not specifically rank the housing market but housing availability is part of the infrastructure score which is perhaps why Vancouver and Toronto have the lowest total in that metric among the top 10.
