Future of proptech descends on Toronto

Ten startups who believe they are the future of real estate technology are in Toronto over the next few months.

The property technology (proptech) firms are the 2019 cohort of the Colliers Proptech Accelerator Powered by Techstars. The program gives firms from all over the world the chance to work with the global real estate firm to develop their innovations.

“We set out on a mission to look for early-stage technologies across the real-estate value chain that deliver smarter, more personalized services to our clients and people,” said Jay Hennick, Colliers Global Chairman & CEO. “Building on the successes of last year’s inaugural class, in 2019 we are beginning to explore longer-term opportunities and more advanced solutions that could disrupt the industry which is helping us advise our clients on what is noise and what is real.”

The startups will have three months to work on their business plan and gain a global perspective on the real estate industry before presenting demos of their solutions in December.

Among this year’s innovators are a Toronto firm that can create 3D layouts from PDF flyers, an Australian solution that can help people spatially visualize property layouts as lifesize walkthroughs before they are built, and a team from Finland whose product uses artificial intelligence to predict property values and risk.
