Investment in non-residential construction lower again

Investment in non-residential construction dropped again in the first quarter of 2016, the fifth consecutive quarterly decline. Statistics Canada said the 1.6 per cent drop to $12.5 billion was largely down to a drop in investment in commercial buildings.

Non-residential building construction spending was down in eight provinces, with Alberta posting the largest decline and Quebec a distant second. British Columbia and Saskatchewan were the only two provinces to register advances.
