Fears about the spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus has led to the postponement of one of the property world’s leading events.
The four-day MIPIM event, which attracts hundreds of brokers, developers, and lenders was due to be held on the French Riviera from March 10th to 13th but has been pushed back to June 2nd to 5th.
“The well-being of our clients and staff is our priority. Given the evolving context, the best course of action is to postpone MIPIM to June,” said Reed MIDEM Chief Executive, Paul Zilk.
Several of the major attendees including Cushman & Wakefield and Knight Frank are reported to have already pulled out of the major industry event due to coronavirus.
“This is not a decision we have taken lightly. We believe these new dates will provide the international MIPIM community with the opportunity to achieve their business objectives. We are grateful to our clients for their support and constructive input during this challenging period, and we look forward to talking with them in the coming days about MIPIM in June,” added Zilk.
MIPIM says the decision to postpone was taken before the French government announced a ban on gatherings of 5000+ people.
