The official topping-off of the commercial level at the 30th storey of Stantec Tower at the corner of 102 Street and 103 Avenue in Edmonton involved a 30-hour continuous pour for the 2-metre section.
"This commercial level topping-off is an important milestone that recognizes the extensive work and meticulous planning that has gone into Stantec Tower," said Glen Scott, president of Katz Group Real Estate. "It is an honour to be a part of a project that will shape the city of Edmonton and be an exemplary contribution to Edmonton's skyline."
When completed, the tower will stand 251 metres high and will be the first in Edmonton to incorporate an above ground transfer slab, stabilizing the building with 1,580,000 pounds of reinforced steel.
The building will also require four 500,000-pound trusses to engage exterior columns to further stabilize the mammoth structure.
As well as the commercial section of the tower, which will be home to law firms DLA Piper and Dentons among others, there will be 37 storeys of condominium residences.

After 18 months of planning, the first level of what will be Western Canada’s tallest building was completed last week.
