3 N.S. dioceses selling properties to pay out victims

Old rectories, houses and undeveloped land are among the offerings to potential buyers, according to the National Post.

The newspaper said the Antigonish diocese has so far sold 10 properties for a total of about $2 million. More properties will be forthcoming, as that particular diocese owes $18.5 million for past court settlements, and potentially $3 million more.

The article quoted the diocese as predicting it could eventually sell some 200 to 300 properties for a total of $10 million to $12 million.

The Yarmouth Diocese and a part of the Cornerbrook-Labrador City Diocese will also be selling properties.
