Canadian homebuyers get more apps to guide searches

A report in the Globe and Mail this week pointed out that technology providers’ decision to release more home-searching apps has much to do with the Bureau’s decision to allow individuals to post listings on MLS without paying a fee to a Realtor.

Banks are also interested in attracting customers in what is expected to be a slower year in the mortgage industry.

The Canadian Real Estate Association’s free app, for example, allows for convenient property searches. Other specific real estate agencies, such as the Royal LePage and Meadowtowne Realty, have apps tailored for specific regions.

Options on the app include getting instant property updates on hand-held devices and turn-by-turn directions.

The Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce also offers a real estate shopping app for the iPhone and Blackberry, which is becoming one of the first to join into that market, according to the Globe and Mail.
