“In today’s Internet and mobile age, tenants prefer interaction with property managers online,” said Leonard Drimmer, CEO of PropertyVista, the company behind a new online customer relations management system. “Similar to online banking, tenants increasingly want to initiate business online, 24/7, at their convenience.”
That’s where Drimmer steps in.
His online portal allows prospective renters to submit applications online, view apartment details and authorize credit checks.
Once they’ve made it to “tenant,” they can use the system to pay their rent – by preauthorized withdrawals, credit card or, even, debit. They can also order a maintenance call from the building’s superintendent, and print out rent receipts from the privacy of their units.
“We’ve developed solutions that address this online ‘shift’ in tenant demands ... while automating many of their regular operations and manual tasks that create huge sources of stress and inefficiency,” said Drimmer.
Landlords and their property managers also benefit from that more-efficient, if more-impersonal, interface, which also allows for real-time credit checks , he said.
“PropertyVista is completely scalable system, meaning the backend can be customized to the size of the (operation) and a limitless number of users, from the landlord to his or her property manager to the superintendent and listing agent,” he said. Drimmer is also pointing to a free basic service offered to landlords of granny-flat units.
The cloud-based software system, hitting the market on Monday after months of beta testing, comes as more Canadians turn to the Web to perform basic chores or make life-altering commitments.
"About 90 per cent of us have access either at work or home,” said Drimmer. “Canada, on the whole, is the No. 1 market for Internet usage.”
