Saskatchewan affordable housing gets multi-million-dollar tranche

The federal and Saskatchewan governments have announced the investment of a total of nearly $2.39 million for the construction and maintenance of homes across the province.

With a focus on affordable housing projects in five communities, the allocation is part of the 10-year, $40-billion National Housing Strategy.

Of the invested sum, $570,000 will go to the non-profit group Gabriel Housing Corporation in Regina. Meanwhile, $470,000 will be for Oxford House, also in Regina.

In Saskatoon, $434,000 will be set aside for the Lighthouse and its co-housing spaces for individuals who can live independently with limited support.

Moreover, $450,000 will be allocated to single-family units in La Loche and Ile a-la-Crosse under the Trades Training Program, which is operated by local housing agencies.

A further $465,000 will go to the Homes of Hope project by River Bank Developments in Prince Albert.
