CBC considers sale of broadcast centre

The downtown Vancouver broadcast centre owned by CBC could be put on the market.

The building is valued at around $57 million and could potentially be used for something other than offices; the broadcaster sold off another part of the site in 2009 for two condo towers.

Although no decision has been made on the site, the company has been considering its real estate portfolio, including its Toronto headquarters.

The Globe and Mail reports that the city’s planners are not keen to see the CBC production centre close and would not necessarily allow vast changes to the site.
