A realtor in Dartmouth has been suspended following a Nova Scotia Real Estate Commission investigation sparked by an audit.
The Chronicle Herald reports that T. Chandler Haliburton and his wife bought a home and concealed a $16,000 cash-back credit. The former Re/Max Nova agent admitted that not revealing that to the mortgage lender amounted to professional misconduct.
He was further charged with creating misleading documents relating to real estate transactions and taking an incentive harmful to the best interests of the public or image of the real estate industry.
Haliburton’s licence is suspended until Nov. 30. With fines and the commission’s legal costs he will have to pay almost $8,000.
